When the dish machine stops on a busy Saturday, a kitchen runs out of plates and glasses within the hour. Best Pro repairs undercounter, door-type and conveyor dishwashers and glasswashers for restaurants, bars, breweries, hotels and cafeterias across Colorado Springs and in Monument, with same-day service for most calls. In summer, when visitors heading to Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs fill the dining rooms, a machine that was limping along in March is often the one that quits.
High-temp or low-temp
- High-temperature machines sanitize with a hot final rinse, usually 180°F. When the rinse falls short, the dishes aren’t sanitized. The cause is most often the booster heater — a burned-out element, a failed thermostat or scale on the element — or rinse water flowing too fast or too slowly.
- Low-temperature machines sanitize with chemicals, usually chlorine. If the sanitizer or rinse aid pump stops feeding, dishes look clean but aren’t sanitized. We check the pumps and lines; dispensers owned by your chemical supplier are serviced by them.
Ready for the inspector
El Paso County Public Health inspectors check the final rinse temperature on high-temp machines and the sanitizer concentration on low-temp ones. If your machine is borderline, call before the inspection rather than after: we check the booster, the rinse gauge, the arms and the dispensing, and fix what keeps it out of range.
Other common failures
- Wash tank not heating. A tank heater element, its thermostat or a low-water safety that has tripped.
- Not filling or overfilling. A failed fill solenoid valve, a stuck float switch or a clogged inlet strainer.
- Not draining. A stuck drain valve, a failed drain pump or debris in the drain.
- Dirty or spotted dishes. Scale in the wash and rinse arms, a weak wash pump, a cool wash tank or torn curtains on a conveyor.
- Conveyor stopped. The drive motor, a jammed pawl bar or a tripped safety switch.
Mineral scale builds up in the booster, the tank and the rinse arms and slowly cuts both temperature and cleaning, so regular deliming keeps the machine in range.
