Best Pro repairs built-in cooktops in homes across Colorado Springs and the surrounding area — gas, electric radiant and induction. Each type fails differently, so the diagnostic starts with what you have.
Gas cooktops
- Burner won’t light or the igniter keeps clicking. Spills on the burner cap or base, a wet or cracked igniter, a spark module or a faulty switch behind the knob.
- Flame goes out when you let go of the knob. Many European-style cooktops, Bosch among them, have a flame-failure thermocouple on each burner: you hold the knob in for a few seconds while it warms up. If the flame still goes out after that, the thermocouple or its safety valve needs replacing.
- Weak or uneven flame. Clogged burner ports or a misaligned burner cap.
Electric radiant cooktops
- Element not heating, or stuck on high. A failed element, an infinite switch behind the knob or, on touch-control models, a relay on the control board.
- Hot-surface light stays on after the glass has cooled. Usually a stuck limiter in the element or a control relay.
Induction cooktops
- A zone doesn’t detect the pan. Check the cookware first: if a magnet doesn’t stick firmly to the bottom, induction can’t heat it. If the pan is fine, the cause is the coil, the power board or the sensor.
- Shuts off or shows an error code mid-cooking. Induction electronics need cooling air. A failed cooling fan or a vent blocked by a packed drawer underneath makes the cooktop overheat and shut down.
- Touch controls not responding. The control lock may be on, water may be sitting on the glass, or the touch board has failed.
Cracked glass
We replace cracked glass tops. Don’t keep using a cracked cooktop — liquid can reach the electrical parts underneath.
You get the price after the diagnostic, before any work starts — see our prices page. We repair Bosch, GE, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Samsung, LG, Electrolux, Miele and other brands. Wolf and Dacor cooktops have their own pages: Wolf, Dacor. For a cooktop that is part of a range, see range and stove repair; for restaurant equipment, see commercial cooktop repair.
