A range is two appliances in one cabinet: a cooktop on top and an oven below, sharing the same controls and the same gas or power supply. Best Pro repairs freestanding, slide-in and front-control ranges — gas, electric and dual-fuel — across Colorado Springs and the surrounding area.
Cooktop problems
- Gas burner won’t light, or the igniter keeps clicking. Usually a spill on the burner cap or base, a wet or cracked igniter, or a failed spark switch behind the knob. A burner that keeps clicking after it lights almost always has moisture in it or a bad switch.
- Electric coil or radiant burner not heating, or stuck on high. A burned-out element, a loose or scorched terminal, or a failed infinite switch — the switch behind the knob that cycles the burner on and off.
- Cracked glass top. We replace the glass. Don’t keep cooking on a cracked top: spills can reach the elements underneath.
Oven problems
The oven in a range fails the same way as a wall oven — bake and broil elements, gas igniters, temperature sensors, self-clean and door locks. Our oven repair page explains the common causes. Ranges with two ovens are covered under double oven repair.
Gas and tip-over safety
- If you smell gas, turn the burners off, don’t touch light switches or the igniter, leave the house and call your gas company from outside. After every gas range repair we check the connections for leaks.
- Every range should have an anti-tip bracket. If the range rocks forward when you pull on the open oven door, the bracket is missing or not engaged. Our technician checks it during the visit.
