A combination wall oven puts a microwave above a full-size oven in one cabinet, usually with one control panel and one cooling system for both. Best Pro repairs microwave–wall oven combos, speed ovens and convection microwaves in homes across Colorado Springs and the surrounding area.
How combo units fail
- The whole control panel is dead. Both sections usually run through one control board and share a thermal fuse, so when the panel goes blank both stop. Heat from the oven’s self-clean cycle is a common trigger.
- The oven works, the microwave doesn’t heat. The microwave section has its own high-voltage circuit — magnetron, diode, capacitor, transformer — and its own door switches. The microwave repair page explains these failures.
- The microwave works, the oven doesn’t heat. A failed bake or broil element (often hidden under the oven floor), a temperature sensor or a convection fan. See oven repair for the details.
- Loud or silent cooling fan. The fan that cools the electronics runs during cooking and for a while afterwards. Replace a noisy fan before it stops: without it the board and fuses overheat.
- Speed ovens and convection microwaves. These add a heating element and a convection fan to the microwave cavity, so a unit can microwave fine and still fail on convection or speed-cook — or the other way round.
Parts we replace
Door switches, magnetrons, high-voltage diodes and capacitors, fuses, cooling, convection and turntable motors, drive couplers, bake and broil elements, temperature sensors, lights, keypads and control boards. When a repair isn’t worth it, we tell you before you pay for parts.
Getting to the parts
Combo units are heavy and built into the cabinetry. Many repairs can be done from the front; if yours needs the unit pulled out, we’ll tell you beforehand. Prices are on our prices page.
We repair GE, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Samsung, Maytag, Kenmore, Bosch, Electrolux, Frigidaire and other brands. Two full-size ovens instead? See double oven repair.
Common problems we fix
- Control panel dead for both units
- Microwave runs but doesn’t heat
- Oven not heating or baking unevenly
- Convection or speed-cook mode not working
- Cooling fan loud or not running
- Door won’t latch or open
- Error code on the display
