Double ovens fail in their own way. The two cavities usually share one control board, one power supply and one cooling fan, so a single fault can take out one oven or both. Best Pro repairs double wall ovens and double-oven ranges in homes across Colorado Springs and the surrounding area.
What we see most often
- One oven works, the other doesn’t. Each cavity has its own bake and broil elements (or igniters on gas models), temperature sensor and door lock, so the fault is usually in the cold oven’s own parts. If those test fine, the next suspect is that oven’s relay on the shared control board.
- Both ovens dead. A blank display or controls that don’t respond usually mean a blown thermal fuse or a failed control board. Check the breaker first: a double wall oven runs on a 240-volt circuit, and losing one side of it can leave the display lit while the elements stay cold. If the problem turns out to be a tripped breaker or lost power, we don’t charge for labor.
- Trouble right after self-clean. Self-cleaning the upper oven heats the whole cabinet, including the control board and the cooling fan above it. A weak cooling fan is a common reason boards and fuses fail during or just after self-clean, so we check the fan on every double oven call.
- Wrong temperature in one cavity. A drifting temperature sensor, a worn door gasket or a convection fan motor that no longer spins.
Pulling a double wall oven out
Some repairs need the oven pulled out of the cabinet. A double wall oven can weigh well over 200 pounds, so a few repairs need a second technician. If yours does, we’ll tell you before the visit; the extra charge is listed on our prices page.
