A commercial dryer runs many more cycles a day than a home dryer, and when it slows down the whole laundry backs up. Best Pro repairs commercial gas and electric dryers — single-pocket and stack dryers — for laundromats, hotels, gyms, salons and other on-premise laundries across the Colorado Springs area.
No heat
On gas dryers we check the igniter, the flame sensor, the gas valve coils and the safety switches. The airflow (sail) switch and the high-limit thermostat shut the burner off when air isn’t moving through the dryer, so a no-heat call is often really an airflow problem. Electric models usually need a heating element, a high-limit or a contactor.
Long dry times
- Lint. Lint builds up behind the drum, in the burner area and in the exhaust duct, not only on the screen. Restricted exhaust makes the dryer run longer and run hotter.
- Not enough makeup air. A commercial dryer pulls a lot of air out of the room. If the laundry room can’t draw enough fresh air in, every dryer in it slows down.
- Drum seals. Worn felt seals let cold air in around the drum.
Mechanical problems
Worn drive belts, idler pulleys, drum rollers and bearings, and drive motors cause squealing, thumping or a drum that won’t turn. On stack dryers each pocket has its own drive and heat system, so one can fail while the other keeps running.
Fire prevention
Lint is the main fuel in dryer fires. Cleaning lint screens every load and having lint removed from behind the drum and the burner area regularly is the best protection. We check for lint buildup on every service call.
You get the price before any work starts and a 6-month warranty on parts and labor. For the washers in the same room, see commercial washer repair; for home dryers, see dryer repair.
