Sub-Zero is the refrigeration side of the Sub-Zero Group: built-in refrigerators, freezers, wine coolers and side-by-side systems with the condenser mounted at the top of the cabinet rather than underneath. Best Pro repairs Sub-Zero units in homes across Colorado Springs and the surrounding area.
Why Sub-Zero units run warm

- Clogged top condenser grille. Unlike a standard fridge, the condenser and fan sit behind a grille above the cabinet, pulling room air across the coil. Dust buildup there is the most common reason a Sub-Zero runs warm, and it’s easy to miss since it’s not at floor level.
- Dual-compressor models losing one side. Larger built-in units run separate sealed systems for the fresh-food and freezer sections. One side can fail while the other keeps working, so “the freezer’s fine but the fridge is warm” usually points to a single failed compressor or control board, not the whole unit.
- Door not sealing. Sub-Zero uses a magnetic door gasket rather than a compression latch. A gasket that’s torn, dirty or not aligned lets warm air in continuously.
Other common problems

- Ice maker not making ice. A clogged water filter, a failed inlet valve or an ice maker module fault.
- Air purification error. Some models run an internal air scrubber; a sensor or fan fault there triggers a dedicated error light, separate from the cooling system.
- Noise. A top-mounted condenser fan or compressor is more audible than a floor-level one — new rattling or grinding usually means a failing fan motor or compressor mount.
What we check

The technician checks both sealed systems, the condenser grille and fan, door gaskets and alignment, the ice maker module and the control board, and reads any stored error codes. You get the price before any work starts, and the repair comes with a 6-month warranty on parts and labor.
